Announcing...
a call for papers from the new editors of the Electronic Journal of Literacy Through Science.

The EJLTS is now housed at UC Davis, under the direction of co-editors Barbara Merino (UC Davis) and Lorie Hammond (CSU Sacramento). The journal remains focused on the intersection of language and science education. We will continue to publish peer-reviewed studies which reflect both classroom and research perspectives. We welcome the work of teachers, graduate students, and colleagues in the field.

A first issue will come out in June, 2007. Subsequent issues will be quarterly, and will align with the following themes. We invite you to submit articles on these themes OR on general topics related to language and science including language development and science education, access to scientific literacy (equity, diversity and multiculturalism), urban/rural education, and food, health and society.

Fall/Winter 2007 issue - To be posted in December, 2007
Theme: Teacher research in language and science

      -Submissions due by August 30th, 2007.

Winter/Spring, 2008 issue - To be posted in April, 2008
Theme: Language and science in teacher education

      -Submissions due by January 30th, 2008.

Spring/Summer, 2008 issue - To be posted in July 2008
Theme: Language and science teaching in rural settings

(This theme will include work in rural schools and agricultural and environmental education)
      -Submissions due by April 30th, 2008.

All submission should be sent via email to the editors and our editorial assistant, Sheila Eghbali. Submissions should be in APA format and sent as a Microsoft Word document for electronic handling.
